Insecurity: Unknown gunmen kill 3 in Oyigbo community

There is palpable tension in Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State as unknown gunmen invaded Kom-Kom community on Thursday night and killed three young men.

The unfortunate attack was confirmed to ElombahNews by the Chief Security Officer of Oyigbo Urban Security Network, Chimaobi Iweala and Kom-Kom commander of the security outfit, Chinedu Akaniro.

The General commander of Oyigbo Urban Security Network, Chimaobi Iweala confirmed the names of the young men killed by the unknown gunmen as Prince Onyekachi, Sunday Ndukwe and Christian Chilaka.

According to investigation, Prince Onyekachi before his death owns a provision store he was managing around his neighborhood. He was shot instantly in front of his shop when he was closing down for business by the gunmen.

Sunday Ndukwe who was an electrician was shot in front of his house while Christian Chilaka was reportedly killed in front of Sunday’s house as he was caught up in the onslaught.

An witnessed said the gunmen came with a motorcycle and a young lady was sighted among them.

The Kom-Kom commander of Oyigbo Urban Security Network, Chinedu Akaniro said after the gunmen might have finished their mission, they plied Izuoma New Layout Road where they snatched a motorcycle from an Okada man before escaping to an unknown destination.

However, the Chief Security officer of Oyigbo Urban Security Network, Chimaobi Iweala said investigation is still on going and they are collaborating with the police to fish out the criminals behind the dastardly act.

He also appealed to Rivers State executive Governor, Barrister Nysom Wike to look into Oyigbo security situation.

He further pleaded with the governor and other stakeholders in Oyigbo Local Government to help in equipping the security network in order to make it more result oriented.
