A group that calls itself Iheatu Political Action Committee (IPAC) has launched an impressive website to announce its presence on the worldwide web ahead of the Local Government elections in Imo State, scheduled for September 21, 2024.

Formed in 2023 to support and promote Governor Hope Uzodimma’s reelection as Governor of Imo, the group was put together and funded by the immediate past and pioneer Commissioner for Homeland Security and Vigilante Affairs in the State, Dr. Ugorji Okechukwu Ugorji.

The former Commissioner hails from Aboh Local Government Area of Imo State.

The mission of IPAC

An elite gathering of activist progressives in the All Progressives Congress (APC), who seek to enthrone accountability and transparency in public service, the group has as its motto “Upright and Progressive.

“Let’s think less of what we want to be; let’s focus instead on what we want to get done for our people,” the group says on its landing page.

Speaking on its mandate, the group stated on the website: “Everything has political ramifications.

“Political leadership is better to emerge by design, deliberation, and preparedness, than by accident.

“At Iheatu Political Action Committee, we aim to groom a new breed of ethical and patriotic political leaders, whose political actions shall be driven mainly by the collective interest, not by self-interest.

We seek to enshrine a new ethos in public service that distinguishes credible political leadership from profit-oriented entrepreneurs, but that brings the separate groups together for the common good.”

The website, the group noted, is best viewed on a laptop or desktop computer.

“Interested political actors are welcome to identify with IPAC by joining on the website’s Contact page,” it added.

About the founder, Dr. Ugorji

Dr. Ugorji holds a Doctorate degree in Educational Administration from Rutgers University, New Brunswick (New Jersey) and a Master’s degree in Homeland Security from the George Washington University, Washington DC.

He also holds a second master’s degree in counseling and Personnel Management, as well as two bachelor’s degrees (one in Biology and the other in Psychology), all from The College of New Jersey (formerly known as Trenton State College).

The former Commissioner is a formidable leader of APC in Imo State.

He delivered his Lorji Ward and helped deliver Aboh Mbaise LGA to Uzodimma and the APC in the November 11, 2023, gubernatorial election.

It was the first time the APC had prevailed at Lorji and Aboh Mbaise, beating the candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Labour Party (LP).
