The lawmaker representing Kogi Central at the national assembly, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has said she will present evidence to support her allegations of sexual harassment against Senate President Godswill Akpabioat “at the right time”.
Senator Natasha said this when she appeared on Channels Television programme on Thursday.
“At the right time and at the right space, I will present the evidence that I have (against Akpabio),” she said.
Moreover, this comes after weeks of controversy surrounding her allegations against Akpabio, a former governor of Akwa-Ibom State.
News Band reported that the Kogi lawmaker was suspended on March 6 for “gross misconduct” following her seating arrangement disagreement with Akpabio.
Afterwards, Akpoti-Uduaghan accused the senate president of making inappropriate advances towards her during a visit to his home in Akwa Ibom state on December 8, 2023.
The senator alleged that Akpabio implied she should “take care” of him if she wanted favourable treatment in the Senate.
Meanwhile, on Thursday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), announced that the petition for her recall did not meet the constitutional requirements, adding that no further action would be taken on the matter
The recall effort was initiated on March 24, 2025, when Charity Omole, an aide to Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo, led some constituents from Kogi Central to submit a petition to INEC.
INEC declared that the petition did not meet the constitutional requirements outlined in Section 69(a) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
“Therefore, no further action shall be taken on the recall of the Senator,” the electoral body stated.
