IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, Ph.D., NPM, directed an immediate crackdown on the attackers targeting a Borno State police station.

A tragic attack struck the Nganzai Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State.

On January 9, 2025, at 12:10 a.m., an assault tragically claimed the lives of two officers.

Inspector Bartholomew Kalawa and Corporal Mustapha Huzaifat lost their lives during this heinous attack.

On January 10, 2025, Force Public Relations Officer ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi released a statement.

The IGP condemned the attack, vowing that “no cop-killer will go unpunished.”

He extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the fallen officers, promising to honor their sacrifices in service.

The IGP committed to promptly disbursing all benefits and entitlements owed to the bereaved families for their loss.

To ensure swift justice, IGP Egbetokun has directed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police for Zone 15, AIG Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, fdc., to deploy all necessary resources and personnel. The AIG is tasked with collaborating with other security agencies to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.

“The Nigeria Police Force remains resolute in its commitment to holding accountable those who threaten public safety and disrupt security arrangements in the country,” the IGP stated.

The attack has sparked ongoing investigations as law enforcement intensifies efforts to restore security in the region.

The IGP firmly supports punishing offenders while honoring the ultimate sacrifice made by officers who serve on duty.

This incident highlights the risks that security personnel in Nigeria encounter daily and emphasizes the urgent need for collective action.
