On Monday, ICE apprehended twenty-five individuals linked to the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua, as a senior official confirmed.
That same day, a staggering total of 969 arrests occurred, which notably included a convicted MS-13 member caught in Dallas.
“Border czar” Tom Homan emphasized that these actions are part of the Trump administration’s strategy to send a “clear” message.
He stated in an interview with ABC’s Martha Raddatz that, “There are consequences for entering the country illegally.”
If consequences aren’t shown, the border issue will remain unresolved, he stressed.
The arrests of these gang members took place on January 28, 2025, according to the senior administration official.
The Trump administration initially focused on deporting immigrants with violent criminal histories, but officials acknowledged that even those without records faced deportation.
During the first White House press briefing, press secretary Karoline Leavitt defended these actions.
“Leavitt claimed that violent criminals’ removal from our communities makes Americans safer every day.”
She added that Trump aims to initiate the largest mass deportation operation targeting illegal criminals in American history.
Leavitt asserted that any foreign national who illegally enters the U.S. fits the definition of a criminal.
When questioned about which immigrants the administration considers to have a “criminal record,” she responded, “All of them,” because they violated U.S. laws.
This perspective represents a significant cultural shift in society’s understanding of immigration violations and their implications.
Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem participated in an immigration enforcement operation in New York City on Tuesday, observing both criminal and civil actions.
One of these cases involved a member of Tren de Aragua, according to sources familiar with the operations.
Noem, recently confirmed as the head of the Department of Homeland Security, emphasized the administration’s key goals effectively.
She highlighted the importance of security measures and initiatives aimed at protecting the nation and its citizens.
She stated that the Trump administration aims to “empower our brave men and women in law enforcement.”
This initiative focuses on effectively removing criminal aliens and illegal gangs from the U.S.
