How Former Governor Odili donated $1.64 million to America Prestigious University

Fact emerged that the former governor of Rivers State, Peter Odili allegedly donated $1.64 million to America Prestigious University (Lincoln University) in 2006.

The amount which is equivalent to over N750 million .

Odili which Nigeria Immigration Service seized his International Passport as at 2006 had become one of the
school’s largest donors to Lincoln University in United States of America.

In attempt to frustrate any corruption against the him, the former governor whose wife is the Supreme Court Justice, Mary Odili obtained a perpetual injunction stopping EFCC from investigating him for any corruption case .

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) is yet to investigate the matter.

According document released by Human and Environmental Development Agenda (HEDA), In spite of the swirl of
corruption around Mr. Odili, he had no difficulty persuading Lincoln University, one of America’s most prestigious historically Black Colleges, to accept
donations from him, a fact noted by Human Rights Watch.

“By the end of 2006, Mr. Odili had become one of the school’s largest donors with at least $1.64 million
donations. During that year, the university bestowed a controversial honorary degree on Mr. Odili. Lincoln held a luncheon in his honor, and named a building after him, the actions that drew outrage from Nigerian groups as well as Human Rights Watch.

“EFCC is yet to take any concrete step on the matter.”
