The Chairman of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Prof Mohammed Isah, reportedly lied in his letter to the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions on Public Hearing of the Senate written by one Mr. Abubakar Suleman, Deputy Director Investigation (CCB).

In the letter read to the floor of the Senate on September 30, 2022, the Chairman of the CCB stated that “he was unavoidably absent from the invitation extended to him by the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges & Public Petitions; that he is on official assignment in the USA-UNGA and that he regretted the inconvenience his absence might cause the Committee.”

In a sharp twist, however, it was discovered that the CCB Chairman was seen in the country on September 25 as he had returned from USA-UNGA meeting that was concluded the previous weekend.

On that note, the Senate Committee Chairman issued an ultimatum to Prof. Isah, the CCB Chairman, to appear before the Senate Committee within five (5) working days to respond to the petition against him by the board members of CCB.

The Chief Research Analyst of Eagle Eyes Transparency International, Dr. George Davidson, was also invited to the committee in view of his organization’s partnership with CCB.

An ultimatum has been issued to the Chairman CCB Prof Mohammed Isah to appear before the Senate Committee on Ethics Privileges and Public Petitions of the NASS on October 6, 2022, unfailingly.

It could be recalled that on August 29, a petition was addressed to NASS over the maladministration, non- functionality, corruption, and collapse of law and order in the CCB, as well as calls for an urgent intervention.

Prof Mohammed Isah got involved in the crisis with his board members who accused him of high headedness and running the Bureau as sole administrator/proprietor. Read more.
