How Bauchi village head was killed by bandits – District Head
Alhaji Aliyu Yakubu, the District Head of Lame Sarkin Yakin Bauchi, has given details into the killing of the village head of Riruwai, Alhaji Garba Badamasi in Lame District of Bauchi Emirate, Toro local government area of Bauchi State.
The paramount ruler was kidnapped along with three people including a woman.
The District Head of Lame who confirmed the incident to newsmen, said it was unfortunate that the activities of the bandits were coming back to his domain.
He said the criminal elements had earlier abducted three people including a house wife before they abducted and killed the village head.
“They beat him and he sustained multiple injuries on their way to their hideout,” he said.
“He could not make it. They killed him and abandoned his corpse”.
On Friday, 15th March 2024, suspected kidnappers stormed the village, unleashing terror by firing shots indiscriminately.
Residents said the assailants went straight to the palace of the Village Head, and abducted him.
His lifeless body was later recovered by those who had gone in search for him in the bush around the village.
His corpse was then brought to the palace of the District Head of Lame in Gumau on Sunday, March 17, for funeral prayers and subsequent burial in accordance with Islamic injunctions.
Bauchi State police command is yet to issue a statement in respect to the unfortunate incident.
