How Aisha Ahmad Jumped 7 Superiors To Emerge CBN Dep Governor

An analyst, Mr Obafemi Oke has narrated how Mrs Aisha Ahmad jumped seven superior Diamond Bank officers to emerge the new Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria [CBN].

According to Mr Oke, Mrs Ahmad was picked from a distant Deputy General Manager [DGM] and imposed on her superior to ameliorate President Muhammadu Buhari’s ethnic and jingoistic ego.

To make matters worse, she was promoted Executive Director on Wednesday morning and appointed Deputy Governor, CBN in the afternoon. 

He cited the 2016 Diamond Bank Annual Reports, a reports of about 244 pages, from page 32 where the picture of the directors is placed.

The report indicates that “Aisha wasn’t a director as at July this year when that report was printed.”

A visibly infuriated Oke noted that “she was a bloody DGM. She is mere Head, Consumer & Privilege Banking. 

“It’s ‘mere’ because of the importance that is attached to the position and responsibilities of the office of CBN Governor.”

He then narrated that there were seven superiors before Aisha, viz: MD/CEO, DMD, ED, ED, MD WAMU, Overseer, Legal& Secretariat, and Chief Compliant Officer.

He continued:

“There are other six ‘Heads’ whose names were before her. 

“Apart from placing their names being before hers, if you work in finance industry, you need not be told that their headships take precedence before hers. 

“They are; Head – North, Head – South, Head – Corporate Credit Risk Management, Head – Corporate Audit, Head – Lagos & West Business, Head – Treasury & Financial.

“Companies in Nigeria are not as bad as taking Aisha to jump all these people above to ED level. 

“Meanwhile, there are still GM level before ED which I believe the overseer and Chief Compliant Officers are.

“First, as at July, she was DGM. Diamond can never promote anybody in August or September to a level as high as Executive Director without publishing it. 

“No. Never! Not a bank as Diamond that like glamour. 

“A bank that used 244 colourful pages to print its annual report will always make hyped PR to market promotion of its Executive Director.”

He summarized by saying:

“No problem. I don’t know her. People’s responses show the faster progress Nigeria is making into decadent and derailment. 

“Soon, a glorified school cert will head CBN. 

“A precedent is now gladly and acceptably made where a DGM from marketing side of a bank is made CBN Deputy Governor. 

“Next, when a worse ignoble one comes, don’t complain.

“CBN overseas our economy and person in charge should be more than CFA. 

“You promoted somebody ED on Wednesday morning to appoint her DG, CBN in the afternoon. 

“Another very strange development is that nothing is written about her CFA and her professional qualifications in the Diamond Bank Annual Reports. 

“This is very strange. 

“Extremely strange because even ACA or ACCA pales to virtually nothingness when you possess CFA, the most difficult accounting professional exams globally. 

“Why was it not included? Strange I say. 

“All the qualifications stated are B.Sc., Accounting, University of Abuja, MBA (Finance), UNILAG, and M.Sc., with unstated school.

“Let’s continue on Buhari interpretation, meaning, definition and description of integrity.

“Congratulations Madam Aisha. You’re welcome.”

Aisha Ahmad was born on October 26, 1976, and hails from Niger State.

According to her profile in the most recent annual report of Diamond Bank, Aisha Ahmad was the Head, Consumer and Privilege Banking at the bank. 

She was previously the Head, Retail Banking Directorate.

She joined Diamond Bank in June 2014 as a Deputy General Manager and the Head, Retail Financial Services Division, overseeing Privilege Banking, Consumer Banking Group, Retail Assets, Cards and Customer Engagement & Insight.
