Miss Nelly Egwu and Mr Pius Anderson

NewsBand has reliably gathered that one miss Egwu Nelly, a staffer of Tokyu Grand Hotel, located at Rumumasi, Portharcourt in Rivers State, has been severely assaulted by her boss in the office, Mr. Pius Anderson.

According to sources, Mr Anderson after physically assaulting Miss Nelly also used his police contact to detain her at the anti-cultism- Rukpoku Police, former SARS Office at Obiakpor Local Government Area of Rivers State since Tuesday, September 21 till date, for allegedly picking her calls during work hours.

A friend of Nelly recounting what transpired said, “at about 6pm on the 3rd of September 2021, Nelly resumed her duty post as a restaurant waitress attending to customers order through the hotel intercom when her boss, the director of the hotel walked in from the outside bar where he was drinking with his friends and met her taking a customer order on the intercom at about 2:12am (GMT) and began to ask very loudly, “who are you talking to? Are you using my phone to call your boyfriend? Give me the phone?”

“On getting the phone, he used it to hit her very hard on her head even to her loudest painful outcry. The attack resulted to an injury on her forehead.

“Nelly is an orphan and has nobody to run for help. She has not been herself ever since and she is scared of her life as her boss keeps threatening to deal with her repeatedly”.

NewsBand also gathered that Miss Egwu Nelly has been denied access to food, water, clothes including her relatives since Tuesday till date.

Efforts to reach out to the Investigative Police Officer (IPO) by name, Grace, was abortive at the time of filing this report.

A source revealed that the purported IPO was caught on phone-call record threatening a friend of the victim to pull down the photo-story of the assaulted Nelly from Facebook as a condition to release her from police custody.

NewsBand also gathered that on Wednesday, September 23, Nelly’s brother, David Egwu, went to the aforementioned police station to bail his sister and was illegally arrested and detained by the police on the order of Nelly’s boss.

However, friends of Nelly are calling on well-meaning Nigerians, Rivers State governor, the Inspector-General of Police and Rivers State Commissioner of Police to ensure nothing happens to Nelly considering the psychological trauma, torture and mental injury inflicted on her.

“Who knows if they are raping her too? Police is collaborating with Mr. Pius to further detain Nelly without telling us her crime or charge her to court”, Nelly’s friend said.
