The gunmen, numbering eight and dressed in black, stormed an event centre on Sagamu Road and began shooting indiscriminately.

Eyewitnesses say the late Prof Olowojobi was shot in the chest. At the same time, a manager of a car stand known as Dare, and one other yet-to-be-identified person, were said to have been taken captive by the gunmen.
