Gunmen assassinate 7 community leaders in Imo
Gunmen have assassinated seven community leaders, including the president general, Hyginus Ohazuruike in Umucheke Okwe, an autonomous community in Onuimo local government area of Imo State.
The unfortunate incident reportedly occurred on Saturday, 3 August, 2024.
The leaders were killed by the criminal elements according to a source while holding a meeting at the premises of Ohazuruike.
The source speaking on the development said, “The seven men were gathered at Ohazuruike’s shop when a vehicle sped to the location. Gunmen emerged, and without any warning, they opened fire on the leaders. Within minutes, they were back in their vehicle and fled the scene, leaving the victims in a pool of blood.”
Meanwhile, Mr Emeka Obi, the administrator of Onuimo local government area, confirmed the tragic incident, adding that efforts are bein to restore order and ensure normalcy in the community.
