Gunmen abduct two in Ondo, demand N15 million for ransom

In a troubling incident in Ondo State, unknown gunmen have abducted a farmer named Ismaila Ojapa and a labourer.

This abduction occurred near Oke Oge in the Oba-Ile area of Akure North Local Government.

The victims were ambushed on Saturday evening while returning from their farm, situated close to the Akure Airport.

The Ondo State Security Network, popularly known as Amotekun Corps, has confirmed the incident.

Speaking on the matter, the Corps Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, assured the public that efforts are underway to secure the safe release of the victims.

I can confirm to you that we are on top of the situation.

They were kidnapped while returning from the farm. Our men have been deployed to rescue them from the kidnappers’ den,” Adeleye stated.

A source close to the farmer’s family revealed that the abductors have contacted the families of the victims, demanding a ransom of N15 million for their release.

While the farmer’s identity has been confirmed as Ismaila Ojapa, the name of the labourer remains unknown at this time.

The farmer is Ismaila Ojapa, but I don’t know the name of the labourer who was with him,” the family source disclosed.

“The kidnappers have called and are demanding N15 million from us before they can release them.”

This incident adds to a growing list of kidnapping cases in the region, raising concerns about security in Ondo State.

Authorities have urged residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies.

Efforts by Amotekun Corps and other security operatives to locate and rescue the victims are ongoing.
