An Awka based rights group, Anambra Democracy Watch, has called on the candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) in the forthcoming Anambra State governorship election, Prof. Charles Soludo to render account of monies raised during the December 2008 launching to build a hospital project at Isuofia, Aguata LGA of Anambra State and put under his care.

Anambra Democratic Watch made the remarks in a statement signed by one James Afuba on behalf of its Media Office on October 20, 2021.

The group, in the statement, threatened to drag Soludo to Court over mismanagement of the Isuofia Hospital project fund.

The group frowned that this is the 13th year since the launching was held for the project, yet there is no hospital built anywhere from the money donated.

“The ideal thing is for Prof. Soludo to come out open and be a man of integrity by rendering the account since he could not produce this hospital 13 years after. The public wants to know, the details,” the group said.

The organisation insisted that the money was public funds raised through public fundraising for a public project.

“It is on record that there was no building committee for a project with such huge money and we are worried that Soludo rather diverted the money for private use, so we insist that he renders an account of how the money was expended.”

Regarding whether they will approach the courts if Soludo refuses to render the expected account, the Group said that it is the civil and right thing to do at this stage.

“We are a civil organisation that believes in the sanctity of our judiciary to intervene in a matter like this.

“If Soludo refuses to account for this huge sum of money, we will drag him to Court to make sure that he is compelled to render this account publicly.

“Soludo is not bigger than the law and we will make sure that he stands up before the altar of truth and face Ndi Anambra with the account.

“That amount is worth over N10 billion today,” the group observed.
