Gombe Police command achieves major crime-fighting breakthroughs

Gombe, Nigeria – The Gombe State Police Command has recently achieved major breakthroughs in combating armed robbery, substance abuse, and thuggery. Under Commissioner Oqua Etim’s leadership, officers reaffirmed their commitment to public safety. DSP Buhari Abdullahi, the Command’s spokesperson, detailed arrests and recoveries in a March 21, 2025, statement.

On March 19, police swiftly responded to an armed robbery at Federal Low-Cost Quarters. Operatives arrested three suspects—Mohammed Ahmad (25), Abdullahi Adamu (19), and Yau Adamu (25)—after they robbed residents at knifepoint. Officers recovered stolen items, including two phones, ATM cards, and ₦3,000. During interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime.

Meanwhile, on March 20, a 32-year-old woman from Arawa ‘B’ reported a robbery. Through intelligence-led efforts, police arrested Naziru Salisu (20), a Kalare gang member. Salisu admitted to stealing her phone but spared her due to her infant. Authorities recovered his weapon and are tracing the phone.

Additionally, officers intercepted Abdulkadir Adamu (25) early on March 20. Found with a cutlass and stolen phones, Adamu confessed to robbing multiple victims, including Umar Usman Shu’aibu and Mohammed Sani Mu’azu. Investigations continue to link him to further crimes.

In another case, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit arrested Dahiru Bello (20) on March 18 for a March 13 robbery in Pantami. Bello and an accomplice, Khalifah (still at large), posed as buyers before stealing a phone and ₦9,000. Police are pursuing Khalifah and the stolen items.

Furthermore, the Anti-Violence Squad arrested Ikechukwu Chinedu (22) and Abdulwahab Mohammed (18) on March 20 in Tumfure Quarters. Patrols uncovered 76 sachets of suspected Indian hemp, highlighting efforts to curb drug-related crimes. Both suspects await prosecution.

The Command has reiterated its dedication to eradicating crime and substance abuse. Residents are urged to report suspicious activities promptly. Authorities assure the public of sustained efforts to prioritize safety and maintain peace.
