Since the governorship candidate of APC, Sen. Andy Uba and his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) stated via a widely publicized press release that preliminary examination shows that there are enough grounds for them to challenge the declaration of APGA candidate, Prof. Charles Soludo by INEC as the winner of the November 6 Anambra governorship election, there have been direct attacks and attacks by proxy from Soludo Campaign Organization and Anambra State government on Andy Uba, coordinated by the State commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr. C. Don Adinuba, who doubles as the Director of Media and Communication for Soludo Campaign.

Ordinarily, we would not have bothered replying a man (Adinuba) who has blanked out on what to tell Ndi Anambra with regards to the heap of issues confronting his party and the state government in the face of worsening road infrastructure, rise in crime rate, growing state debt profile, inability of the state govt to pay gratuities, growing unemployment, etc.

However, for the avoidance of doubt and benefit of the unsuspecting public, whom Mr. Adinuba is trying to confuse, we wish to reaffirm that:

1. It is within the legitimate rights of Sen. Andy Uba and the APC to approach the Court to interrogate the processes which INEC stood her announcement of the APGA candidate as winner of the election.

2. APGA and Mr. Adinuba should be informed that Sen. Uba or APC will not be the first party to challenge INEC declaration in Court and won’t be the last. For example, Dr. Chris Ngige was removed as Anambra State governor through the Courts. His declaration by INEC was challenged by Mr. Peter Obi and APGA, as a party, benefited from that action.

3. Sen. Andy Uba was also a victim of Court pronouncement. He was elected in 2007 and after 17 days in office, the Supreme Court declared that INEC ought not have conducted the election. Consequently, he was removed from office by Court. He did not die. More importantly, APGA benefited from that Supreme Court interpretation that removed Andy Uba from office. So why is APGA jittery over Andy Uba going to court?

4. In Bayelsa for example, an APC governor-elect had his election nullified by the Supreme Court on the eve of his inauguration. The APC and the candidate did not die. The party rather respected the position of the law.

5. The loquacious C. Don Adinuba should rather be worried that he has no explanation to offer as to why the APGA led Anambra State government, after spending over N800 billion in 8 years, only has visibly collapsed road infrastructure and mountains of refuse everywhere in the state to show for the sum – a situation that has contributed to disturbing traffic gridlock enveloping every corner of the state.

6. We wish to also educate Mr. C. Don Adinuba that a President acts in dual capacities – in this context, firstly, as the President of the country; and secondly, the leader of his party. As the President of the country, it is incumbent on the President to congratulate anyone INEC declared as having been elected. A position that does not stop any party to the election from seeking judicial interrogation of the process.

We invite Ndi Anambra to ask C. Don Adinuba, the Anambra State Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment and Director of Media for Soludo campaign Organization the following questions:

a. Why is Amansea to Amawbia expressway approved for the state government by the Federal Government since 2014 still abandoned by the APGA led state government, not minding that the APC led Federal Government has released over N30 billion as refund to the Obiano led state govt?

b. Why has Awka, the Anambra State Capital, remained one of the worst state capitals after 16 years of APGA government?

c. Why has Amansea – Awba-Ofemmili road remained abandoned after 16 years of APGA government in Anambra State?

d. Why has the commercial city of Onitsha been abandoned to rot by the APGA government in the state?

e. Why did the thriving sports sector of Anambra State collapsed under APGA’s 16 years rule?

f. Why is the APGA govt owing gratuities?

g. What will Mr C. Don Adinuba tell the people of his immediate Local Government Area that his state govt did for them?

Anambra State Commissioner for Information & Public Enlightenment, C. Don Adinuba
Anambra State Commissioner for Information & Public Enlightenment, C. Don Adinuba

For 16 years of APGA government in Anambra State, they cannot boast of N1billion worth of projects in the said LGA, not minding that the LGA has gotten over N15billion within the period from the Fed Govt which APGA govt misappropriated.

We believe that Mr. C.Don Adinuba who is striving to confuse or distract Ndi Anambra from the real issues should focus on the core question of governance than chasing attacking Andy Uba for exercising his constitutional right.
