German recession “inevitable” if Russian gas cut off, says Deutsche bank boss
Deutsche Bank CEO Christian Sewing has become the latest prominent politician or executive to warn of the dire consequences of blocking Russian gas trade, claiming recession would be “inevitable” after double-figure inflation.
Finance Minister Christian Lindner and ThyssenKrupp chief Martina Merz made similar damning forecasts for the mooted ban on trading in Russian gas supplies.
There have been calls by Western leaders to ban Russian gas for launching full scale military action in Ukraine.
