Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers state appears to be hitting his predecessor, Barrister Nysom Wike so hard as he has removed Chidi Awuse as Chairman of Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers.
Eze Awuse is a strong loyalist to the controversial FCT Minister, Nysom Wike.
He appointed traditional ruler of Apara Kingdom, Eze Chike Worlu Wodo as his replacement.
Mr Nyesom Wike had few days to the end of his tenure, replaced the then Chairman of the Council, His Royal Majesty, King Dandeson Douglas Jaja, the Amanyanabo of Opobo, with Chief Sergeant Awuse.
Governor Fubara made the announcement at a special meeting he had with members of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers at the Banquet Hall of Government House in Port Harcourt on Friday.
He pointed out that, under Eze Sergeat Awuse, the council produced a calendar for the year 2024, and insulted the State Government by intentionally refusing to include the photographs of the governor and the deputy governor.
Fubara described Awuse as an unstable character, noting that he has been playing double standards since the political crisis in the state.
According to him, “It is like your chairman has ran away. May be when your chairman is ready, he will write to me. If he gets the approval he can then come for the meeting.
“But you already know his position. He is not a stable man, he is not a stable character. He cannot say something in the morning and say another thing in the evening.
“It is because of that he decided to hide his head. You have to bear with him until when God will help us remove this problem you are having. By the grace of God it will be resolved soon
“So, going forward, there is need to have a leadership that will accommodate everybody and move this council forward.
“Let me, before saying other things, announce here that the new chairman from this particular moment will be Eze Chike Worlu Wodo, Eze Ohna Apara, Paramount Ruler of Apara Kingdom. He will be the chairman, Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, and I believe strongly that he is going to do better and accommodate everyone.”
