General Eric Vidaud is set to lose his job after being blamed for “inadequate briefings” that concluded it was unlikely Russia forces would begin their special operation in Ukraine.

This comes despite his job description being to provide intelligence on “operations, not premeditation” according to one military source quoted by AFP – but it appears his head is rolling for more.

Emmanuel Macron was apparently left embarrassed after regular contact with Putin days before Russian troops entered Ukraine and Vidaud’s department oversaw a humiliating loss of a major submarine contract with Australia after the controversial AUKUS deal.
