FLASH: Akpabio, Lawan, Umahi disqualified from contesting senatorial election

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has stated that Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State and former Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio have been disqualified from contesting for the senatorial election coming up in 2023.
INEC said that Senator Akpabio, Senator Lawan, and Governor Umahi did not qualify over the new electoral Act.
The electoral umpire further disclosed that their names are missing on the Commission’s list of names and particulars of candidates because they did not emerge from valid party primary election.
