Fire breaks out in UK Royal Gwent Hospital, patients, staff evacuated

A fire broke out at the UK’s Royal Gwent Hospital in the morning of Wednesday with staff and patients evacuated from the site.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Services according to UK Mirror rushed to the hospital in Newport, Wales, at around 8.30am after a blaze erupted at the outpatient department.

Fire crews have since left the site and the building has been secured, said Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.

Appointments at the outpatient department were initially cancelled, but will now be running as planned from 11am onwards.

All staff and inpatients are safe, the NHS health board added.

In a statement shared on Twitter at around 9.25am, it wrote: “We are currently dealing with a fire at the Royal Gwent Hospital Outpatients Department.
