There is palpable fear in Abuja, the country’s Federal capital Territory, over recent information by official state security outfits and non-official sources as Boko Haram terrorists and their Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) counterparts close on the nation’s capital.

According to multiple sources, supported by recent developments, terrorists have encircled Abuja, waiting for the go-ahead order to unleash mayhem on unsuspecting residents.

Recently, two Captains and one soldier from the elite Guards Brigade were killed while on routine patrol when they were ambushed in Bwari, a suburb of Abuja housing the nation’s Law School.

The attack prompted the shift of the institution’s call to bar from Bwari to Jabi, another Abuja suburb.

Meanwhile, a massive influx of bandits into Rafi Local Government Area (LGA) of Niger State through Birnin-Gwari area in Kaduna State has been reported.

According to an intelligence report from the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Rafi and corroborated by the Department of State Security (DSS) in Rafi LGA, bandits were sighted on over 500 motorcycles entering Niger State via Birnin Gwari.

It was alleged that the bandits may use Niger State as their tactical operational base to advance more attacks in FCT and other soft targets in the state.

More worrisome is that fact that both Niger State and Kaduna State share common boundary with Abuja.

Another report further confirmed sighting bandits heading towards the direction of Abuja, adding that all of them had AK-47s.

“If you frequent ShopRite, Wuse Market, stop for now,” the report said, adding, “stay away from Wuse Market, Jabi Motor Park, ShopRite outlets and be at alert in churches.

“Avoid traffic. Just turn back; look for an alternative route; don’t stay where cars are pulling up.”

In an earlier report published by News Band, the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB), located in Garki, Abuja, has raised serious alarm over reported movement of terrorist bandits in Kebbi, Niger, Kwara, and Oyo States respectively.

This was disclosed in a secret memo electronically signed by CSP Yusuf Abdulraheem, Officer in-Charge, SIB, Kwara State Command, Ilorin, on behalf of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, FIB, Abuja.

The memo was addressed to the Commissioner of Police, Department of Finance and Administration of the Nigeria Police at State Headquarters in Ilorin, Kwara State.

Titled “Intelligence report on the movement of bandits”, the Bureau revealed information on the movement of some bandits/kidnappers numbering about 112.

It said the terrorists will be travelling in two each on motorcycles while their arms and ammunitions will be conveyed by a truck loaded with food items in disguise.

In the meantime, residents have been sighted leaving the Federal Capital Territory in droves.

Just last week, a concerned parent lamented how her daughter and other students, including teachers, were forcefully evacuated from school in Mpape, another Abuja suburb, by security personnel.

The parent, who pleaded anonymity, disclosed that the students were taking their promotion examinations when a combined team of security personnel badged in and interrupted the session.

The personnel cited the recent directive from the Federal Capital Territory Authority (FCTA) which ordered government-owned schools to shut doors over raging insecurity.

In a second publication, News Band reported that the Federal Capital Territory ordered the closure of all private schools in Abuja amidst threats of attacks in the capital city.

The decision was taken after a reported terrorist attack on the neighbouring Sheda community in the Area Council, which is close to the college.

In yet another report, parents of students in Federal Government College, Kwali, Abuja, were seen hastily evacuating their wards over fear of terror attack.

Both panic-stricken parents and students, who were seen moving luggages, said they have lost confidence in the Government to protect them and their young ones.

Speaking to newsmen, the Chairman of the Parent Teachers Association (PTA), Suleiman Idajili, said the decision followed a terrorist attack on a nearby village Sunday morning.
