The Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission [FCCPC] has sealed the premises of Med Contour/ Body Contour Specialists located in Lekki, Lagos State, known for performing cosmetic surgery, over abundance of caution and consumer safety issues.

FCCPC disclosed this in a series of documents posted on its Twitter handle on Friday.

The Consumer Protection Commission accused the proprietor, one Dr. Anu Fella of “reasonable suspicion of illegal activities” bordering on administration of cosmetic surgery and commenced an open investigation.

Explaining reasons behind its action, FCCPC, Chief Executive, Mr. Babatunde Irukera said the accused is ‘licensed to kill’.

When asked what FCCPC meant by “reasonable suspicion of illegal activities” as proffered by FCCPC and warned of possible lawsuit, he answered:

“We have proceeded in a manner that is unlikely to result in this “sue” you encourage, however we respect all prerogatives to seek to enforce any perceived violation of rights by us.

“But if you understand the law, the process and facts here, I doubt you’d maintain this advise to her [Dr. Anu].”

On the actual motive of the Commission to pursue the matter as one of the affected persons must have “connected”  to have taken it up officially, Irukera replied:

“Nah! Absolutely not. Don’t even know anyone personally or directly who has undergone cosmetic or body argumentation/modification.

“In protecting people, everyone and everything counts; the qualification for the job is far more “calling”& passion than degree. Its why we pursue.”
