Chief Magistrate of Pantami township Area Court, Gombe State, Mohammed Kumo, on Friday ordered a 27-year-old New Media Aide to Senator Danjuma Goje, Muhammad Yayari to be remanded in police custody till Monday 20th December.

The embattled social aide is alleged to have shared a false Facebook post on the actual number of All Progressives Congress executives that resigned in Yalmatu Deba Local Government.

Delivering his ruling, Kumo said he needed adequate time to study the various submissions from both prosecution and defence counsel, adding that based on the condition of Yayari, the defendant, he should be held in police custody instead of Billiri Custodial Centre.

“I must peruse carefully in order to arrive at my judgement. Considering the condition of the defendant I hereby order that he be taken to police custody,” Kumo said.

The prosecution counsel Ramatu Hassan, had earlier applied for adjournment noting that bail application sent by defence counsel can’t be authenticated. However, Kumo ruled that the application for adjournment was malicious and mischievous.

On his part, defence counsel, Luka Haruna, said his team has complied with the court’s decision by bringing a formal application to the court.

He revealed that the nine-paragraph affidavit has been served to the appropriate quarters including the Attorney General of the State and Ministry of Justice.
