A Max Air Boeing 737, registered as SN-MBD, encountered a significant incident during landing at Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) on January 28, 2024, at approximately 10:50 local time.
The aircraft experienced a nose wheel landing gear collapse and a rear tire burst while landing on Runway 06/24.
There were 53 passengers and 6 crew members on board the aircraft at the time of the incident.
Fortunately, all individuals aboard were unharmed, and no injuries were reported.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau (NSIB) has initiated an investigation to ascertain the root cause of the incident, focusing on the mechanical failure that led to the landing gear collapse.
After the incident, airport operations resumed swiftly after teams enacted necessary safety protocols to ensure passenger security and confidence.
The airport authorities reopened the runway at 08:00 hours after thoroughly cleaning and assessing it, enabling normal flight operations to resume.
This reopening ensured that flights could continue without any further disruption to the schedule.
