Ex-AGF Adoke Reveals How He Stopped Jonathan From Signing Lawmakers’ Life Pension, Immunity Bill
Former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Bello Adoke, has revealed how he managed to stop former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan from signing into law a bill granting life pensions and constitutional immunity to lawmakers, in 2015.
Adoke says he managed to halt the return of the signed version to National Assembly just-in-time before it was transmitted back to the lawmakers before full adoption.
The Bill President Jonathan signed would also have, according to Adoke, “taken away the power of the president to assent to constitutional amendments.
“That meant that the legislature would, on its own amend the constitution and it would become operational without the consent of the President.”
