Enugu commissioner escapes gunmen attack in Anambra, escorts unaccounted for, says Police
Enugu State Commissioner for Lands, Hon Chidi Aroh, on Sunday escaped death following Gunmen attack in Ihiala Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to reports, the Commissioner’s convoy came under heavy attack along Ukpor-Lilu-Orsumoghu-Azia-Mbosi, on that fateful day while he was on his way back from a visit in the state.
Hon. Aroh was able to escape with his Driver while his security details made efforts to repel the attackers.
Two officers; Inspector David Adabu and Inspector Solomon are yet to be accounted for after the attack.
When Ikenga Tochukwu, Anambra State Police PRO was contacted, he confirmed the unfortunate incident.
He said, “What happened yesterday is a pure example of the sacrifice security agents, especially police personnel pay in providing security services to the citizens.
“The police officers attached to the Commissioner quickly engaged the criminals which made the Commissioner to successfully escape with his driver.”
Commenting about the whereabout of the two officers, Mr. Ikenga said that “operations are still ongoing in the area since yesterday evening till now as the command deployed operatives in that area and the whereabout of the officers can’t be ascertained at the moment.
“I shall get more details, I will get back to you please,” he assured.
