Eloquent testimonies emerge at Commissioner Ugorji’s civic reception

It was a harvest of testimonies on the improved security situation in Imo State on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at Lorji Community Primary School in Aboh Mbaise Local Government  Area of Imo State.

This was the day the people of Lorji Nwekeukwu Autonomous Community, the Traditional Rulers and people of Mbaise in general, friends, colleagues, and political associates witnessed an unprecedented crowd at a Grand Civic Reception in honour of Dr. Ugorji Okechukwu Ugorji, Imo State commissioner for Homeland Security and Vigilante Affairs.

The Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodinma, emphasized that the issue of unknown gunmen has gone down since Dr Ugorji became the commissioner, which indicates that he is doing his job well.

The remark was made on behalf of the Governor by Professor Placid Njoku, Deputy Governor of Imo State, who represented his boss.

Prof. Njoku informed the people that 2km of the Aboh Mbaise 5km road given to each Local Government Areas in the state is coming to Lorji.

He urged the IMC chairman to ensure that the road is done and on record time so that the people will feel the impact of Shared Prosperity Government.

The Deputy Governor emphasized that the 3R Government is not an idle one, but working round the clock to ensure the State moves forward.

He charged the Commissioner to be mindful that the people are looking up to him, pointing out that the Governor carefully picked him to handle the Security situation in the State because he is confident in his capacity.

He also acknowledged the Commissioners Father, HRH Eze S. N. Ugorji, who he said, raised a good son.

He also extolled the Commissioner’s international credentials, including his membership as a Fellow of the highly reputable organization, Amnesty International,  and his recognition by the Governor of New Jersey as a Model Citizen in New Jersey, the United States of  America.

In his vote of thanks, Dr. Okechukwu Ugorji noted with delight that his community and associates got together and raised the money to give him a grand reception.

He explained that he has been around the world and interacted with many leaders, but that the Governor, Senator Hope Uzordinma, has touched his life in a way nobody has done.

He also stressed that the honour bestowed on him by the Governor is a great privilege he takes seriously, promising never to fail the Governor or his people of Aboh Mbaise.

Meanwhile, on her part, the APC Woman Leader in Aboh Mbaise, Chief Mrs. Benadine Mgbahuruike, expressed great satisfaction in the person of the Commissioner, pointing out that the 12 Ward Women Leaders in Aboh Mbaise were fully on ground to give the Commissioner a grand Civic Reception.

According to her, because of the quality personality Dr Ugorji is made of, the entire Aboh Mbaise APC emptied in the field, pointing out that Dr Ugorji does not support evil but encourages every good venture.

The great sons of Mbaise took turns as “Chairman of the Occasion.”

Chief Barrister Obioma Success Akagburuonye said he was honoured to have been asked to chair the historic occasion.

“Dr. Ugorji came to serve, and nothing else. He is not interested in money or politics; just an opportunity to make a difference, and he is making that difference,” he noted.

Chief Barrister Iheukwumere Alaribe, who later took over as Chairman described the Commissioner as a worthy son who deserved the grand civic reception organized in his honour.

“We are delighted that the Governor has seen in him what those of us who have known him for over 40 years know – he is a brilliant, industrious and credible professional with unassailed integrity,” Alaribe said.

He informed the Governor that in the election that brought the present Government to power, Ugorji’s community played a laudable role, and the community has positioned itself for another election.

In his speech, the member representing Aboh Mbaise State Constituency in the Imo State House of Assembly, Hon. Eddy Obinna, attested that Commissioner Ugorji has made the people of Aboh Mbaise proud, and thanked Governor Uzodimma for finding him worthy to serve in his Government, first as Special Adviser, and now as Commissioner.

He revealed that when Dr. Ugorji was introduced in the House of Assembly to be screened as a Commissioner nominee, he (Obinna) worked with other Honourable Members to ask him to bow and go.

He expressed gratitude to God that Aboh Mbaise is working as a team, and APC is the party is to beat in the next election, stressing that because of the likes of Dr Ugorji, Aboh Mbaise people are solidly with Governor Uzodimma.

“When the time comes, Aboh Mbaise will vote for APC,” Obinna assured.

Meanwhile, in a welcome address, on behalf Lorji Nwekekwu Association for Progress, (LNAP), the Vice President, Charles Ukaegbu, noted that since the creation of Imo State, the Community has not had the privilege of having any of her sons or daughters appointed as a Commissioner in the state.

So, they appreciated the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodinma, immensely for appointing Dr Ugorji. O. Ugorji as the Commissioner for Imo State Ministry of Homeland Security and Vigilante Affairs.

He described the Commissioner as a good resource person for the Shared Prosperity Agenda of the Uzodimma Administration, who has used what he has received from government to employ and empower several men and women from Aboh Mbaise and Ngor Okpala.

He thanked the Governor for earmarking the major road for refurbishing, hoping that the distance would cover Ogbor Uvuru to achieve accessibility to the communities.

Being a member of Association of Nigeria Authors, Imo State Chapter, Dr. Ugorji, who has authored over ten published books, was praised by the Chairman of ANA Imo, Chief Celestine Ibezute, for his creativity, scholarship, and support for other writers.

Ibezute testified that the reception was a further confirmation of the sterling attributes and assiduity, which the Commissioner exemplifies.

According to him, the writer’s body is proud to associate with Dr. Ugorji Okechukwu Ugorji.
