Precisely on the 30th of June, 2023, a five paragraph broadcast with the title- “Bola Tinubu’s Surprise Endorsement of Osagie Ize-Iyamu for Edo Governorship 2024 Shakes APC Camp” which suspiciously bore no authorization or name was released on social media. In the said article, the orchestrators attempted to first establish a scenario that would in a matter of days warrant a follow up response particularly aimed at smearing the unblemished image and intimidating profile of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, (POI) the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the Edo State 2020 gubernatorial election.
As easy as it was for every sound mind to discern and true to prediction, a crass, ludicrous and laughable reply was published with the title- “Tinubu Has Not Endorsed Ize-Iyamu” on Tuesday 4th July in the Vanguard newspaper to the disappointment of too many. Putting both publications side by side even a toddler can deduce that they are mere concoctions by the same unknown authors masquerading as a support group.
Ordinarily, we would have ignored this juvenile, unnecessary and insipid vituperation as it may be perceived as gratifying them if we don’t, yet, in a season of fake news and in a society where opinions can easily be formed on falsehood, it is pertinent to as much as possible address allegations no matter how patently false and incredulous they may seem. Likewise, it is imperative to put these lowlife fifth columnist and their paid masters in a place that befits them while protecting the unsuspecting public from the numerous uncultivated political schemes they are renowned for.
The blackmail of not supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is not only silly, illogical and low-cost, it is also absolutely elementary as social and other news media have POI on record as he sang and publicly affirmed the President as the choice of Edo state delegates when the later visited the state to seek for nomination as candidate prior to the party’s presidential primary. At this point in time in our Nations religious trajectory, he also engaged and mobilized Christian leaders in Edo State convincing them about the appropriateness of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s candidacy. Can these political delinquents, sore illiterates and naysayers show evidence where POI supported any other aspirant?
Obviously, this loosely knitted underhand plan hatched to favour their own machinations and plots proves that they have allowed their unbecoming worries becloud their sense of judgment if they ever had any; they have conceded to fear. As Yoda said in Star Wars-
“Fear is the path to the Dark Side. Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, and hate leads to suffering.”
As a result of their suffering, loss of hope and absolute surrender to desperation, it isn’t baffling that the publishers of these ill-conceived write-ups do not know that Mr. President is too experienced a politician to be endorsing a candidate for 2024 election in Edo state more so when the said person has not even signified or declared his interest to contest.
Clearly, this is the handiwork of those who are enveloped in the fear of POI being nominated either as a Minister now or governorship candidate in 2024.
It is Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu’s dignified silence amidst his cult-hero followership, his continuously rising profile, his unending relevance in the political firmament of Edo state and the light that he possesses and joyful radiates that troubles and drives these political rabble rousers nuts. We advise them to manage their jitters before it consumes them. We admonish them to take a deep breath and heave sighs of relief. It is too early in the day to shiver as a result of the cold in the coming night.
