The Due Process Advocates (DPA), a human rights advocacy group with it’s headquarters in the United States of America, has written to the governor of Anambra State, Chukwuma Charles Soludo and Senator Victor Umeh over the unfortunate abduction of Barrister C. J. S. Azoro in the state.

The abduction of Barrister C. J. S. Azoro was earlier confirmed on Monday by the founder of Due Process Advocates (DPA), Attorney Emeka Ugwuonye.

Mr Ugwuonye told NewsBand that the group received a message from its head office in the United States of America that Azoro was kidnapped in Anambra State where he lives and practices law.

However, in two separate letters addressed to governor Soludo and Senator Victor Umeh which he made available to NewsBand, Attorney Ugwuonye made a passionate appeal to the two political leaders to use their good office to do whatever is humanly possible to secure the release of Mr. Azoro.

The letter addressed to governor Soludo reads, “Your Excellency:

“RE: THE KIDNAPPING OF BARRISTER C. J. S. AZORO: – YOUR ASSISTANCE IN SECURING HIS RELEASE.

“Our organization has just received the most disturbing news of the kidnapping of Mr. C. J. S. Azoro, a lawyer based in Anambra State. Mr. Azoro, who apparently got married to a fellow lawyer about two weeks ago, was kidnapped by unknown men yesterday. Information reaching us indicates that Mr. Azoro has been an excellent lawyer with a remarkable reputation for his support for civil rights and justice in Nigeria. We, thus, feel obligated to do whatever we can to seek his safe release from captivity. It is in that regard that we send this letter to you to seek your assistance in securing the release of the lawyer.

“Though kidnapping is a criminal activity and any dealing with people involved in such is always a delicate and borderline undertaking, we are hoping that in your capacity as the Executive Governor of Anambra State, your active and direct participation in the quest for the release of Mr. Azoro could be crucial, if not decisive. We, therefore, implore your office to do whatever is humanly possible to secure the lease of Mr. Azoro. Our organization will be grateful for your effort and I am confident to say that the entire people of Anambra State will be grateful as well. Thank you, Sir.”

Also, the same appeal which was extended to Senator Umeh, the lawmaker representing Anambra Central in the Senate reads, “Distinguished Senator:
