Details Of The Examination Of Dasuki By Olisa Metuh’s Lawyer

Examination-in-chief of Sambo Dasuki by Olisa Metuh’s Lawyer, Barrister Emeka Etiaba, 1st November 2017, at the federal High Court in Abuja.

Etiaba:

Do you know Olisa Metuh ?

Dasuki: yes I do

Etiaba:

Cast your mind to the year 2014 , do you have any transaction with Chief Olisa Metuh ?

Dasuki:

I will not be able to recall if I have any dealing with Chief Metuh just by Memory.

Etiaba:

Please elaborate on what you mean by you do not recall if you have any dealing with Chief Metuh ?

Dasuki:

Without reference to my records , I cannot respond in a manner that will please the council .

Etiaba:

Please tell this court whether you held any office in the last administration and what ?

Etiaba:

Do you know Olisa Metuh ?

Dasuki:

yes I do

Etiaba:

Etiaba:

Please tell this court whether you held any office in the last administration and what office?

Dasuki:

Yes I did. I was the National Security adviser .

Etiaba :

Since you cannot remember if you had any deal with Metuh in your office without reference to your record .Can you tell us the functions of that your office.

Dasuki:

It is essential staff officer in the office of the president .

Etiaba:

Tell the Court why you are in the Court today !

Dasuki:

I am here to answer the subpoena .

Etiaba :

Please at this point , I will be direct with my questions .

Chief Metuh and Destral are in court on the account of their dealings with you while you were in office .

Dasuki:

It will be difficult for me to give any detail on the issue of money that relate to Chief Olisa Metuh and Destral  without reference to my record .Three years is a long time especially for those of us that are where I am .

Etiaba :

That means you are not ready to answer any question without reference to your records ?

Dasuki:

Yes without reference to my records .

Etiaba :

Please tell this honourable Court how soon you can get to your records.

Dasuki:

As soon as the Authority is ready to obey Substituting Orders of the Court and release me. I have four bail orders and one ECOWAS Court ruling. When they comply with the above , is when I will be able to give a timeline .

But as long as am in detention , the answer is that I don’t know .

Etiaba :

Currently , are you making any effort to ensure that those orders are obeyed ? 

Dasuki:

Yes .We are in court on these issues .

Etiaba :

Please Confirm that your appeal on bail in Supreme court is coming up on 20th January 2018 ?

Dasuki:

Yes .

Emeka Etiaba :

My Lord , I have a witness that is willing to testify . He is in Court currently in the witness box .

He has taken introductory questions , but he is unable to answer questions with records to his functions as National Security Adviser  and all that he did when he was in the office of National Security Adviser in 2014 as it relates to Chief Olisa Metuh.

My witness insist that he has to refresh his memory and look at his documents before he will be able to give answers to the questions he is been asked .

My Lord his position is justifiable because before us , he was told by the oath administer that if he tells any lie , he will be prosecuted .

He therefore want to give correct answers to questions .

My Lord , it is very, very, important to note that the only reason why he does not have his record is because he is been detained by the state .The same State that is persecuting the defendant .

My Lord , I believe that it is possible for some administrative effort to be made to enable him get in touch with his records .

My Lord , I said this because when it was difficult to serve the subpoena on the witness , the Court directed that administrative arrangement should be use and it worked .And I commend My Lord for that effort .

Judge :

You are now going to the line beyond the Court .

Etiaba:

My Lord , in this situation , I apply that the witness should be allow some time to get in contact with his records .

And in God’s will , the effort that produced him here today , if applied will ensure that he will get his records and be in this Court again to enable him tell the truth so that the case can go on .

The Judge:

You are asking for adjournment?

Etiaba: 

My Lord that word Adjournment is a word I am always afraid of.

* The Case ended around after 5pm .

* The Case was later adjourned till 3rd November, 2017 .

*This case lasted for 8hours (9am – 5pm ) and is already to longest criminal case in Nigeria history in terms of man hours it has taken .

*Olisa Metuh has never held any government office but only Party Offices and can’t be the problem of Nigeria .

* For the record purposes , Olisa Metuh was a mere Publicity Secretary of PDP and never held any government position .

The money in question was given to him by the then President who was the Leader of his Party and he utilized the money as directed by the President .

If no Court has founded Goodluck Ebele Jonathan guilty regarding this money and directives, why is this government chasing Olisa Metuh as if they are chasing Nigeria development ? Did Olisa Metuh break government bank and took said N400m? No !

It was the then President who directed one of his staff to give Metuh the said money for a specific assignment which Chief Metuh carried out and reported back to the then president !

So what is his sin here ?

There are more to this and it cannot be seen as a fight for corruption but a pure Vendetta which history is taking note of .

Let Olisa Metuh go, he has committed no sin by carrying directives of the president!
