A strategist and political activist based in Bayelsa State, Prince Crispus Amarabhi Ovoh Jnr. of Oloibiri Community, the landlord of the first oil well in Nigeria, has thrown his support behind Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State for demolishing Bayelsa State properties in the state.

Prince Amarabhi Ovoh Jnr. made the remarks in a press release entitled “Wike Was Right On Demolition”, made available to News band on Monday.

He blamed miscreants defacing high-profile government environment around old GRA Akassa Street in Port Harcourt, the state capital.

According to a statement credited to Ovoh Jnr. sometime around 2021, the rivers State Government, via its Governor—Wike, had already served Bayelsa State Government immediate renovation notices, which the Bayelsa State Commissioner of Land and Housing, Mr. Andrew Esua, confirmed receipt of the very notices.

Mr. Esua said that renovation works is supposed to be carried out on that property.

Ovoh, however, noted that what did Bayelsa state Government did was mere service to the notice as a result of failed leadership on their part for three years now.

He said: “A responsible government will live up to expectation and act right, but as we all know, Bayelsa has been very unfortunate in leadership.

“What the governors know best to do is looting and mismanaging of our common wealth and neglecting what leadership is meant for

“Governor Duoye Diri can’t claim that our state is incapable of renovating the said property.

“If you know Port Harcourt very well, you will understand that Rivers State Government can’t accept a particular building in a dilapidated state and housing criminals to constitute nuisance because it is owned by a sister state.

“In this light, it is very important to keep the environment clear from the structure so miscreants will not use the said arena as a cover for criminal activities.

“I felt disappointed when I read on some blogs and print media on the ranting from the Commissioner of Land and Housing making claims about the good work being done to them by Governor Wike.

“Moreover, Bayelsans are in support of Wike’s actions and are aware of the failed leadership experience in Bayelsa in the past 12 years of governance,” Ovoh added. Read more.
