An Imo State born human rights activist and author, Comrade Paul Ikechukwu Njoku, has admonished the former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan not to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr. Njoku, added that Dr. Jonathan would have completely killed his remaining integrity should he defect to the APC.

His words: “The incessant rumour of the impending defection of former President Goodluck Jonathan to the APC for another four years of presidency is resoundingly hard to be doubted.

“With all due respect, Jonathan’s integrity would be completely killed in the face of the international community and Nigerians should he allow himself to be hypnotised and deceived by the Fulani ruling class who ganged and kicked him out of office in the most sabotaged elections in Nigerian history.

“He should be reminded that in May 2016, the Buhari-led government described his administration as sick, weak and corrupt.

He should also recall that this government had incessantly berated his integrity by telling the world that “Nigeria would have been no more, if the All Progressives Congress had not won the 2015 presidential election”.

“Jonathan should be informed that on May 28, 2016, during a town hall meeting in Kano State, the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, said and I quote:

“”For the first time, we have a President, whose integrity is what is actually driving the force in this country. But we inherited a very sick government, the type that is inflicted with so many ailments and everything – sickle cell and any kind of sickness.

“You know Ebola! We came into government at a very bad time, but for the fact that God loves this country and we won the election, because if any other political party had won the election, Nigeria would have seized to exist.

“I am not exaggerating because they will not have the courage or discipline to manage the economy. Everywhere we go, we see that Nigerian situation is very simple – a man that was earning N100, 000 a month, all of a sudden his salary is slashed to N30, 000 a month, he must make painful adjustment.

“If he has two wives, one will have to go, if he has four children in school, two will have to step aside.

“But we went there and the President said we are not going to retrench one person, we will be battling with it and, everything that we have done so far, like the introduction of the Treasury Single Account, setting up efficiency units, discipline is what has helped this country to even maintain an even cure.

“We are fortunate today that gradually, things are improving; and I will always emphasise that change does not come instantly, it takes time.

“We have spent the last one year planning, we have spent the last one year to put in blocks in all leakages; and of course, our opponents have stolen so much money that they are richer than the government.

“They have stolen so much money that to date they cannot afford, but this government under the leadership of President Buhari will continue to organise town hall meetings to tell Nigerians what we are doing and that there is light at the end of the tunnel.”
