Anambra State governor, Chief Willie Obiano has deployed some 280 of his over 1,600 aides aides to man the borders of the state as extra securities to guard against encroachment by the Covid-19 pandemic.

This was contained in an official document released by the state government on Thursday titled “Special posting of political appointees to critical border locations to help enforce border closure special assistants to the governor“.

ElombahNews gathered that Governor Obiano drafted a list of some of his low cadre aides and inducted them into borders personnel as extra securities.

The move has, however, generated criticism from various quarters as concerned citizens are wondering what they are going to doing at the border.

Others wonder whether he will give them guns while yet others wonder how they are going to enforce the lockdown.

One could recall that the Anambra index case reportedly came in from Lagos during the lockdown which allegedly prompted Obiano’s decision.

One such concerned citizen asked: “Are these low cadre aides going to take over from the police and military?”

Despite the lockdown, people have continued to maneouver their way into the state and around Nigeria in general, especially during the night hours.

See below the list of about 280 aides who have been dispatched to man Anambra borders:
