Covid-19: Cases rise to more than 2.5 million worldwide

Active cases of the deadly Covid-19 pandemic have swept past the 2.5 million mark worldwide on Wednesday as the total deaths stood at 179,866.

The precise figures as at 15:55pm is as follows:

  • Confirmed Cases: 2,585,392
  • Recovered: 705,754
  • Total Deaths 179,866
  • Active Cases 1,699,772
  • Affected Countries 212

Meanwhile, reports say that death toll in United Kingdom is forty times higher than the actual reported figures.

Official figures as at 21st April, 2020, show that confirmed cases are 130,172, death toll stands at 17,378, while recovered patients are 638.

In a related development,  the United Nations has warned that global hunger could double in 2020 and put some 265 million people at risk.
