A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has discharged former Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Mohammed Adoke and six other defendants standing trial for alleged infractions in Malabu Oil and Gas

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had charged Adoke with a businessman, Aliyu Abubakar; Rasky Gbinigie; Malabu Oil and Gas Limited; Nigeria Agip Exploration Limited; Shell Nigeria Extra Deep Limited and Shell Nigeria Exploration Production Company Limited over the otherwise known as Malabu Oil scam.

The presiding judge, Justice Abubakar Kutigi, while ruling on Thursday, upheld the no-case submissions made by all the defendants in the 40-count amended charge, marked: FCT/HC/CR/151/2020.

He said that the anti-graft agency failed to establish elements of the offences the defendants were charged with.

Justice Abubakar added that the prosecution neither called certain witnesses nor tendered evidence to prove its case against the former AGF and other defendants.
