okorochaSome of the major challenges impeding development in both the rural and urban areas which has been a major concern to the peoples governor have been identified

and will soon get the desired government attention. Overcoming these challenges which have become a long overdue task has led to the assembling of a crack team of experts to deal with the situation.

The team which is a constellation of technocrats, politicians, civil servants, business men and other wonderful sons/daughters of Imo State with a proven track record of performance and their coming together is like the strategic deployment of troops for the final battle in line with the rescue mission agenda of the peoples governor. The Rochas Okorocha [image above] troops are battle ready for the speedy execution of projects within 90 days.

Field Marshal Rochas inaugurated this battery of troops as taskforce committees on Friday 4th September 2015 and charged them to have a human face in their operations in ensuring the speedy execution of projects impeding development in Imo State in the next 90 days. The largest battle against unfinished projects, insecurity, illiteracy, poverty and lack of healthcare etc has just been launched and Gov. Rochas, ever ready to stun critics and cynics left no one in doubt that he meant business. This is another war he is going to win.

Mindful of the high expectations and sophistication of Imo voters, Owelle never minced words when he told his troops the huge expectations and results expected of them in the various areas of their assignment and within very short periods.

Among those appointed to head their various committees, the peoples governor, could not have appointed a better man as Chairman Task Force Committee on Reorganization of Artisans than Comrade Uka Daniel Anya, whose commitment, loyalty and steadfastness has become a positive reference point for outstanding leadership in Imo state.

Mr, Uka Daniel Anya, a managerial economist by training is a politician of great repute both at grass root and national level. He has been described as one of the invisible back bones in the Okorocha’s administration.

His appointment as Chairman Task Force Committee on Reorganization of Artisans was greeted with great rejoicing and endorsement, both from his political constituency and among several youth groups as not only well deserved but a just reward for hard work and merit.

As Mr. Uka proceeds to define his reputation as a worthy ambassador in such position of responsibility, he has been urged to discharge his duties with the efficiency and excellence he is renowned for, as a statesman of uncommon dexterity with an overwhelming desire to conquer and as an apostle of His Excellency’s Rochanomics.

Despite being garlanded by friends, colleagues, news men and well-wishers, the day he was inaugurated, he was able to squeeze out time for a brief interview with me.

Asked what his job entailed as the Chairman Task Force Committee on Reorganization of Artisans, his smile and the subsequent tinges of excitement as his voice boomed a response left no one in doubt that he was a man who knew what was expected of him; surely a round peg in a round hole.

“I have always had a burning desire in the affairs of the youths and had been involved in youth development programmes and human capital developments in order to make sure the interest of Nigerian youths is projected positively”, he said.

He further talked about his philosophy of sacrifice, political will and cultural re-orientation for the youths which he said would be brought to bear in his new assignment. His vision as the Chairman Task Force Committee on Reorganization of Artisans is to alongside his dedicated and committed committee members, Com. Chris Ekwueme and Sir Joe Odina will ensure that people engaged in various crafts are brought together in a particular place to practice their craft.

A proper means of identification like identification cards and uniforms would be introduced for easier identification and branding. It will be organized in such a way that if you are in Imo state and want to locate those who are into shoe making, bead making, hat making, technicians and carpenters etc. You will get them in a particular location, he concluded.

Continuing, since youths constitute a large percentage of the artisans in Imo state, I asked him “if he was assuring Imo youths that there was hope for them in carrying out their duties”? He stated reassuringly:  “As a youth friendly and youth driven personality, I will work in cognizance with the artisans in the state and together with my committee members, we will not fail to empower youths that are willing to learn any craft within the stipulated period”.

When asked if 3 months is not short a time to achieve all they had set to achieve as a committee, he confidently said “3 months is not a short time —  but a time to carry all and sundry along in speeding up development in Imo state in line with the vision of the peoples governor”.

In his message to Imolites, he described the peoples governor as a pragmatic leader who is doing a practical thing and should be emulated and urged Imolites to come on board and cue into the rescue mission of his Excellency with the summation — “The dice is cast”!
