Buhari accuses IPOB of vandalising oil pipelines in Bloomberg interview

President Muhammadu Buhari has accused the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) of vandalising oil pipelines and other infrastructures in the Southern parts of the country.
President Buhari made the accusation during an interview with Bloomberg, asking western allies to designate IPOB a terrorist group.
Buhari also claimed that the vandalism and the activities of IPOB were responsible for the shortfall of the daily oil production quota in Nigeria.
He said: “Criminality and terrorism in oil-producing regions hamper production, and it would help if our western allies designated IPOB as a terrorist group, given their complicity in damage to pipelines and infrastructure.
“We urge those same international partners to take additional steps costing them nothing, by proscribing IPOB as a terrorist organisation.”
Lambasting Radio Biafra, which has the detained IPOB leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu as its anchorman prior to his arrest, the president said:
“Their leadership enjoys a haven in the West, broadcasting hate speech into Nigeria from London, spending millions lobbying members of the US Congress, and freely using international financial networks to arm agitators on the ground.
“This must stop!”

To forestall the raging insecurity across the country, Buhari noted that Nigeria has invested in its security forces, including the $1 billion military deal with the US for the acquisition of A-29 Super Tucano aircraft.
