Budget 2022: Defence, Security gulp N2.41 trillion
Defence and security will gulp 2.41 trillion Naira in the coming year as disclosed in the budget proposal for 2022.
The budget allocation for defence and security accounts for 15% of the total budget setting them apart from among other biggest beneficiaries.
According to the appropriation bill, military allocation comprised of several projects like purchase of vehicles and defence equipment, procurement of military equipment, kits, arms and ammunition.
The bills show the Defence Ministry alone will gulp 7% of the budget with a total of N1.14 trillion, while Police Affairs Ministry will consume N555.5 billion, representing 3.4%.
The office of the National Adviser (ONSA) will gulp another N188.4 billion which is 1.1% of the budget.
The Ministry of Interior will also receive N296.3 billion which is 1.8%.
