Zamfara State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Sokoto, has officially affirmed Dauada Lawal of the Peoples Democratic Party—PDP, as the duly elected governor of the state.
The spokesman of the governor, Sulaiman Bala Idris, announced the news in a statement released on Monday, September 18, 2023, in Gusau.
He noted that the tribunal’s ruling has revibrated the collective will and determination of the people of Zamfara.
Idris stated, “Just moments ago, the Zamfara Governorship election tribunal, sitting in Sokoto, affirmed Dauda Lawal as the winner of the March 18, 2023, Governorship election. This decision, rather than surprising, simply reiterates the united choice made by the unwavering people of Zamfara.”
Recall that in February, governor Dauda Lawal secured victory in the governorship election with a substantial margin of 65,750 votes.
