Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara State has appointed Senator Hassan Mohammed Gusau as the new Deputy Governor shortly after the impeachment of Barr. Mahdi Aliyu Gusau.
News Band earlier reported that lawmakers of the Zamfara State House of Assembly impeached Deputy Governor Aliyu Gusau after he refused to decamp to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The report recalled that Aliyu refused to leave his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), after Governor Matawalle defected to the ruling APC.
His impeachment on Wednesday followed the adoption of a motion by Majority Leader, Faruku Dosara (APC -Maradun 1) at plenary in Gusau.
On his part, Senator Gasau defected from PDP to APC in June 2021 on the heels of the defection of Matawalle.
Gasau represents the Zamfara Central at the National Assembly.
