Federal government employees will start receiving the new minimum wage payment starting Thursday, September 26th.
This was disclosed by the spokesman for the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr Bawa Mokwa.
While addressing newsmen on Thursday, Bawa announced that employees under the federal government payroll can expect to receive notifications regarding their updated minimum wage salary payments from today.
“Federal Government civil servants will start getting the new minimum wage from today(Thursday) this September 2024. What I can tell you is that the minimum wage salary payment is today I am not sure of the arrears,” he told Daily Post.
Meanwhile, this latest development is coming just two days after the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission revealed that the implementation of the new minimum wage would actually commence in July 2024.
NSIWC Chairman Ekpo Nta made this announcement during a press conference in Abuja, explaining that the July date aligns with the President’s approval of the bill following its passage by the National Assembly.
