The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission [EFCC] has arrested the former governor of Benue State, Gabriel Suswam [pictured above].

Earlier on Friday, the EFCC grilled a former Benue State Commissioner for Finance,  Omadachi Oklobia, according to PREMIUMTIMES.

PREMIUMTIMES reported that the anti-graft agency had invited Oklobia, who served under Mr. Gabriel Suswam, a former Benue State governor, to defend the allegations of diversion of public funds, abuse of office, embezzlement and fraud while he was in office.

Mr. Oklobia arrived the EFFC office in Abuja at about 10.00am, where his statement was obtained under caution based on his alleged complicity in the allegations.

Mr. Suswam was along the line invited to appear before the EFCC for interrogation on same allegations on Monday, October 12.

His failure to appear before the commission prompted his arrest mid-day Monday, October 12 following allegations of corrupt practices which occurred during his tenure as governor.

Suswam, who is currently being probed by his successor- Samuel Ortom, had proved defiant in the face of ongoing probe by the current administration and EFCC.

Mr. Suswam had earlier filed a suit at a Makurdi High Court in in a bid to stop the panel constituted by his successor to investigate his administration.

He filed the suit on October 5 through his counsel Dave Iorhemba, to challenge the establishment of the panel.
