There may not be any end in sight to the perennial case of insecurity in Benue State as gunmen have reportedly killed 16 civilians in Gwer East local government area of the State.
NewsBand gathered that bandits armed to the teeth launched a vicious attack on several communities within the local government area on Thursday night, instilling fear and chaos.
The latest attack is coming after rival militia gangs targeted Gbagir community in Ukum LGA of the state, which resulted to the unfortunate death of over 40 civilians.
Sources from the communities said that the gunmen suspected to be terror herdsmen stormed about 11 communities and killed several people and burnt down many houses.
Meanwhile, when contacted, the police image maker in Benue State, Catherine Anene promised to get details of the incident as soon as the Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina who had gone to the troubled area return.
