Be Good Ambassadors of Your Homes and The Society-Nwaonicha Tells Ika Students

Elder Dr Chukwuma Nwaonicha has enjoined Ika students studying in different tertiary institutions in different parts of the world to be good ambassadors of their homes and the society. The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chieftain, handed down the advice on Saturday, August 26, 2017 while addressing an enlarged students of Ika students during the inauguration of the national executive of National Association of Ika Students, at Ika National Hall, Agbor.

He congratulated members of the new executive of the apex Ika students association and urged them to reciprocate the trust other Ika students have for them by electing them into NAIS executive by offering quality and selfless service that is devoid of corruption, self aggrandizement and violence, adding, “by your election you have assumed a leadership position that requires more sacrifices and commitment not only to NAIS but, the entire Ika nation 

“To the entire Ika students, your parents and loved ones want the best from you. You should therefore be good ambassadors of your homes, Ika nation and the society in general. Take your studies seriously and shun social vices like cultism. He advises that the best gift to any child from his/her parents is good education and stressed that they should embrace quality education for themselves while in school, adding, as promising students, the ball is in your courts to do the needful”.

He noted that Ika nation at the moment is blessed with the emergence of one of her illustrious sons, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa as the executive governor of Delta State, noting, “Governor Okowa needs your maximum support to successfully deliver his SMART and Prosperity Agenda to all Deltans. Okowa is strongly committed to your well-being and success in life; hence, you should use your positions as student leaders to help propagate the achievements of the Okowa’s government. Your support for Okowa is a support for you today and tomorrow”.  

Speaking further, Dr Chukwuma Nwaonicha said that Governor Okowa has since his assumption of office recorded remarkable successes in different sectors of the economy. Every local government in the state has good testimonies of the Okowa’s government. Okowa’s achievements despite the economic crunch in the country even transcend the most remote community in the state. I am glad to announce to you that the state government has several packages for her students in the areas of skill acquisition, bursary and educational grants. You stand to benefit from any of these packages once you are qualified. Okowa’s administration is out to better the lives of every Deltan, so let us support him wholeheartedly to enable him achieve this lofty vision.

“As a community leader and PDP Chieftain, I urge you to the path of success and honor by genuinely supporting Okowa’s quest for the development of education in Delta State. As students; be focused, love yourselves and be responsible citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I am part of you and do not hesitate to seek my advice or assistance when necessary.”

The new NAIS President, Comrade Akaeze Daniel Onyekachukwu, in his maiden speech expressed gratitude to the Almighty God and all persons, including NAIS members who in various ways contributed to his emergence. He specially thanked Hon Tony Elekeokwuri who he described as his mentor, Chuky Dandy, Comrade Jerry Ehiwario, Comrade Austin Obihia and Comrade Onoche. He appreciated them for identifying with NAIS, urging them not to be tired particularly, now the apex Ika students body is better reorganized for better service delivery.
