The spokesman for Atiku Abubakar’s presidential campaign organisation in the last general election, Mr Daniel Bwala, has said the former Vice President has the capacity to run for the presidential seat in 2027.

He said this while speaking on Channels Television on Tuesday night, January 2.

Mr Bwala who highlighted Atiku’s potentials noted that the former Vice President understands the private sector and that the country’s economy can only come alive if it is been coordinated by an individual with the right knowledge of the private sector.

He said, “Sure, he would run. He has the capacity, he has the wisdom, he has the knowledge, he has the energy.

“And he is a president we never had. Because to be honest with you, if any politician understands the private sector very well, it is Atiku Abubakar and our economy can only come alive if there is a private sector-led economy.

“He’s the president the country is missing because of his experience and capacity.”

Atiku who is 77 has contested for the Nigerian presidency six times—in 1993, 2007, 2011, 2015, 2019, and 2023—without success.

His recalcitrant disposition to run for the top job in the last general elections splitted the Peoples Democratic Party.

However, this was what led to the creation of a ‘rebellious’ group tagged as G-5 which consisted: Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), Samuel Ortom (Benue), Seyi Makinde (Oyo) and Nyesom Wike (Rivers).
