Arsenal ‘s Gabriel Jesus faces injury setback

Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus reportedly suffered a ruptured ACL during the FA Cup loss to Manchester United. This injury may prompt the Gunners to explore transfer options, according to recent reports.

During the first half of Arsenal’s match, Jesus was stretchered off after colliding with Bruno Fernandes. Previously, he appeared to injure his knee while landing awkwardly, visibly distressed as he left the pitch.

Mikel Arteta provided no definitive updates on Jesus’ condition after the game, expressing concern about the situation. He described the injury as a “big worry” and noted that it “was not looking good.”

The Athletic now indicates that Jesus is “suspected” to have an ACL rupture in his left knee. Although further tests are pending, there is a strong belief he may miss the rest of the season. If confirmed, he could be sidelined for at least nine months.

This significant setback, along with Bukayo Saka’s ongoing absence, may compel Arsenal to seek emergency attacking reinforcements. The Gunners have been linked to Premier League talents like Newcastle’s Alexander Isak and Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo, although neither is expected to transfer in January.

While The Athletic did not specify any targets, the report suggests Arsenal might pursue an overseas loan to strengthen Arteta’s weakened attack. Arteta confirmed that the club is open to winter recruitment.

“We are actively looking into the market to improve the squad,” Arteta stated on Tuesday. “It would be naive not to explore options. We are trying, so let’s see what we can achieve.”

Following the penalty shootout exit to Manchester United, Arsenal’s season is precarious. They are six points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool and facing a 2-0 deficit against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup semi-final, making the Champions League their last hope for silverware.
