Army releases monarch arrested over killing of soldiers in Delta

Military authorities in Nigeria have released Delta traditional ruler, Clement Ikolo, who was arrested over the killing of 17 soldiers in Okuama community in Delta State on the 14 March 2024.

He was declared wanted by the Defence Headquarters alongside seven others for alleged involvement in the massacre.

But the monarch who denied any involvement in the killings submitted himself to the police who later handed him over to the army.

Chief Ikolo was released on Friday during a briefing by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, the spokesman of the army at the Defense Headquarters in Abuja.

He was released to Senator Ede Dafianone who stood as surety for him.
