Appeal court affirms Bala Mohammed as Bauchi gov

The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has struck out the appeal challenging the election of governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had declared Mohammed winner of the March 18 gubernatorial election, but AVM Sadique Abubakar (rtd), candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the election, rejected the results and approached the court.

The tribunal had also upheld the election of Mohammed, but Abubakar proceeded to the Appeal Court.

However, while ruling on the matter on Friday, the panel of three justices, who were unanimous, upheld the judgement of the tribunal.

The panel held that Abubakar and the APC failed to prove the allegations of malpractices and non-compliance with the Electoral Act, 2022 against governor Mohammed and the PDP.
