The founder of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Chief Chekwas Okorie, has called for disciplinary action against Anambra State Governor, Mr Chukwuma Soludo.

Chief Okorie’s call to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) comes amid a bitter power struggle over the leadership of the party.

Mr Soludo, the only elected APGA Governor, has been at war with Chief Edozie Njoku, who was recently declared the authentic National Chairman of APGA by the Supreme Court.

Despite this ruling, Soludo has blatantly refused to acknowledge Njoku’s leadership, instead backing a rival faction led by Sylvester Ezeokenwa.

While addressing a press briefing on Wednesday, Okorie accused Soludo of engaging in several anti-party activities and destabilizing the party that helped him achieve his long time ambition of becoming a Governor.

He revealed that various respected figures, including clergymen, traditional rulers, town union leaders, and business elites, have urged Soludo to stop undermining APGA.

“Governor Soludo has consistently ignored pleas to stop his disruptive actions,” Okorie said. “He continues to act recklessly, ignoring the established party leadership and attempting to undermine its unity.”

Okorie also tackled Soludo for allegedly attempting to influence the Court of Appeal, noting the Governor’s involvement in legal disputes with Chief Victor Oye over party leadership squabbles.

Okorie warned that the Nigerian public is closely monitoring whether the appellate court will uphold the rule of law or be swayed by political pressure.

“Soludo’s actions suggest he is willing to sacrifice APGA rather than accept Chief Edozie Njoku’s leadership,” Okorie added. “APGA, being a historic party with a progressive ideology, is resilient and will outlast any internal or external challenges.”

However, he urged the NWC to immediately implement disciplinary measures against those engaging in anti-party activities, including Governor Soludo, to maintain the integrity and authority of the party.

Okorie stressed that upholding the party’s supremacy is crucial for its survival and effectiveness in Nigeria’s political landscape.
